Kiwinity now has a YouTube channel. Just have a look: Kiwinity on YouTube

Below you can find the first uploaded HD video. There will be more in the future.

As you can see, it is Piha Beach in New Zealand. Great waves :-)

Kiwinity Marketplace coming

Kiwinity Marketplace Preview The next feature of Kiwinity will be a Marketplace. This will be a kind of classified ads system that will enable you to place free classified ads on Kiwinity.

The Marketplace is currently being developed and will later support more than just "normal" classifieds. Don't want to reveal too much ;-)

How do you use it? Very simple, registered users will be able to use a form and enter the ads information. Just hit enter and your ad is online. No complicated stuff.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year 2010

I wish all people a merry Christmas and a fantastic new year 2010.

For me it will be a very busy year. Kiwinity will get a lot more features. Expect new things and expect changes. I'm really looking forward to work on the website and see it growing :-)

Probably around June/July 2010 I will be in Auckland for a couple of weeks. Maybe we could organize a first informal Kiwinity meetup in Auckland. If you are interested just leave a comment or send me an email.

Upcoming features

Kiwinity started with a very basic feature set. That was OK to bring the website online but of course there is much more to come. Here a little list of what is planned:

Marketplace
This will be a section for all kinds of classified ads, private and commercial. You will be able to add listings for cars, boats, computers, jobs and much more. This extension is currently be written by my own so I am very flexible to adjust it to the needs of Kiwinity.

Photo Gallery
No New Zealand Website without a photo gallery :-) Currently I am evaluating a few existing Joomla! extensions to see if one could be used. If not, I will also write an extension for that.

Extended Profile
Support for more fields like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Skype and so on. A public profile page which shows public marked fields will be part of this.

Private Messages
Users will be able to send private messages to others

and more

Do you have suggestions? What would you like to see? Which one is the most important feature for you?
Please leave a comment. Your feedback is very welcome.

German language forums added

In our Forums section you can now find forums in german language. This is a first step to support multiple languages on Kiwinity.

There are many Germans in New Zealand: People who work in NZ, Students, Au Pairs and many more.
Also, many people still being in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and wherever they speak German, would like to inform themselves about New Zealand before they jump on a plane.

Viel Spass in unserem deutschsprachigen Forum Bereich. (have fun in our german language forum section)

Kiwinity launched

Kiwinity - The New Zealand Community is open for user registrations. This is an important step during the build up process of the website. Of course there is still a lot of work to do but now an important factor can help. Your feedback. Please don't hesitate to let me know how Kiwinity can improve, which features you would like to see and what we can do in the future. The website starts with a discussion forum. New features will be added step by step.

If you are running a business and/or a website and would like to cooperate with Kiwinity just drop me a message.

Around 10 years ago I started a website in Germany and now it is the biggest website in it's niche. Believe me, I know that it takes a lot of work and persistence to get a community website running well. I am sure with the help of all of you guys we can make it.

Let's start :-)
